An exciting new biopic about the legendary music executive Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records: the label behind the successes of Oasis, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain amongst others. A marketing genius with an ear for genre-defining music, Alan made his mark right across every aspect of British culture.
This British comedy is based upon McGee’s autobiography, titled ‘The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves And Running A Label’.
The Creation Stories film reunites the iconic Trainspotting team of Oscar winning Danny Boyle (Executive Producer) and Irvine Welsh (Scriptwriter- along with Dean Cavanagh).
Directed by Nick Moran (Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels) Creation Stories features a stellar cast including Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting) as Alan. Speaking to Sky News, Danny Boyle comments on this inspired choice of Bremner: “…they’ve also cast Ewen Bremner as Alan McGee, which is casting heaven. I can’t think of a better piece of casting that I’ve ever heard”.

Nick Moran describes the biopic in a press release: “part cautionary tale, part cavalier romp, mostly hilarious, occasionally sobering, and constantly engaging.… An irresistible trip down memory lane, or a delightful history lesson about the last great days of rock’n’roll. When Britannia ruled the airwaves, thanks to one man with his misfit mates and their indie record label that briefly changed history.”
Creation Stories premieres at the Glasgow Film Festival between 8.30pm on Wednesday 24 February until 8.30pm on Saturday 27 February, before being made available for wider release on March 20th at Sky Cinema.
