Sarah Outen MBE Biography

Sarah Outen MBE is a renowned name in the adventure world, respected by her peers for her groundbreaking journeys and extraordinary ability to share both her crashes and highs, as well as her unique world to many people. A dynamic character, Sarah is as comfortable in front of a TV audience or film crew as she is out in the waves alone for months at a time. Her astounding ability to share and connect is remarkable.

Sarah’s most recent 4.5 year London2London: Via the World journey grabbed the attention of global audiences through the real-time peaks and troughs of her daring mission to travel around the Northern Hemisphere using a rowing boat, a bike and a kayak. Alone most of the time, spending months in solitude at sea, there were also beautiful encounters with people in remote communities alongside the most enduring story of all – her proposal, mid-ocean, to her girlfriend over satellite phone.

A biologist graduate of Oxford University, Sarah’s love of nature is strong in all that she does. The same can be said for her ideals of equality and diversity. She is a proud ambassador for Inspire + and the Youth Adventure Trust, a patron for CoppaFeel! and Vice Patron for Jubilee Sailing Trust.

In her speaking life she works with businesses and schools to share tales of adventure and encourages challenge, resilience and the ability to embrace change and failure.

Sarah’s approach to presenting and documenting is fresh, honest, energetic and articulate. She is currently making a documentary of her London2London journey and is keen to pursue presenting opportunities now that she is back on terra firma and hatching exciting new plans.
